If you’ve ever done a 5k, marathon, 100 mile bike ride, sprint triathlon, ironman, etc. then you’re familiar with the feeling of accomplishment and gratitude when crossing the finish line. Having an event on your calendar keeps you motivated to train, fuel your body, and recover so you can be at your best on race day. I always encourage my clients to pick an event or physical accomplishment (unrelated to body composition) to keep them going. When you’re trying to lose weight, it can be discouraging if the number on the scale doesn’t change. However, none of that matters when you cross the finish line on your big day with your team! These events build camaraderie with other like minded people, and build bonds and friendships that can last a lifetime.
At Crossfit South Surrey we love doing community activities, and having a fitness goal is an extremely important part of staying on the right track. We encourage our CF family to partake in outside activities as a group. This could be mud runs such as Spartan, Tough Mudder, Warrior Dash, Muderella, 5K runs or walks, or coming out and cheering on one of our CF family members in their competitions. We particularly like the mud runs as they use muscles you have never used before. You have to run, crawl, balance, jump, climb, duck, lift, carry, etc.
